Dato Affandi @ Affendie bin Tahir started working as Program Assistant at Radio Sarawak, Kuching in 1961 (now known as Radio TV Malaysia Sarawak – RTM). Hardly a year later in 1962 he was selected to attend a professional course in sound broadcasting at BBC London, United Kingdom.

Started his career from rank and file as Program Assistant now known as DJ he eventually rose up to a Program Organizer.  In 1976 he was promoted to as Divisional Controller taking charge of RTM sub station in Limbang until 1980 when he was transferred back to Kuching holding the post of Deputy Director in charge of program division.

In 1975 he had a short stint in RTM Kota Kinabalu, Sabah as a Program Coordinator for RTM Sarawak/Sabah. He had the opportunity to participate in some of the TV program productions and given the chance to read TV news live from Rangkaian Ketiga, Kota Kinabalu.

End of 1992 he was transferred to Radio TV Malaysia, Johor Bharu as a Director of the station in Southern Region until he retired on 17 July 1996.

DIRECTOR

In September the same year he was invited to join CATS FM a private Radio Station in Kuching, Sarawak, initially as advisor but soon after as Director of Program.  In 1997 he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer until he retired in June 2008 but reappointed as Advisor until June 2009.
